Sportshounds – About

Sportshounds is a platform for exclusive stories by award-winning journalists who take you inside world sport and the Games.

It was created by IT specialist and photographer Nick La Galle in partnership with the late, great sports writer Ron Reed and former editor of Melbourne’s The Sun, Colin Duck. Together with Ron as Chief Writer, Nick worked as Photographer/Publisher at the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games for Sportshounds before the website went into a period of hiatus/mourning when Ron died during the Covid Pandemic.

It was redesigned and relaunched in July 2023 with award-winning journalists Louise Evans and Michael Osborne as the marquee writers.

Nick La Galle is Sportshounds’ Chief Photographer and General Manager. He worked as an IT specialist for News Corp for more than 20 years at major sporting events around Australia and the world. While at News Corp he worked at three Olympic Games (Sydney, Beijing, London) and three Commonwealth Games (Melbourne, Delhi, Glasgow) and as the IT Manager at numerous major sporting events including F1, Moto GP, the Australian Open tennis and the Spring Racing Carnivals. After leaving News Corp, Nick moved into sports photography and built and launched Sportshounds.

Louise is an editor and journalist of 30 years standing who has worked around Australia and around the world as a reporter, foreign correspondent, editor and media executive for platforms including The Sydney Morning Herald (eight years), The Australian (11 years) and Australian Associated Press (six years in London, Beijing and Sydney). A woman-in-sports media pioneer, Louise has worked at six Olympic Games, six Commonwealth Games and numerous world sporting championships and grand slam tennis events, so far.
