ONLY RAIN could have saved them, but when the showers stopped England folded under the pressure of the Australian bowling attack and surrendered the Ashes at the WACA.
The bat of Steve Smith and the bowling might of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon have dominated the first three first Tests for Australia.
England lost at the Gabba by 10 wickets, in Adelaide by 120 runs, and by an innings and 41 runs at the WACA.
The final Test to be played at the WACA will be remembered for Smith’s masterly double century and the destruction of England’s batting by the four lead bowlers.
